Cultured marble vanity top with integrated bowl in a modern bathroom

Cultured marble vanity tops: sizes, edges & bowl options explained

A vanity top is one of the most-used surfaces in any home. It gets splashed, wiped, leaned on, and looked at every single day. So when it's time to choose one, the details matter — and cultured marble vanity tops give you more control over those details than almost any other material.

The trade-off is that "more control" can feel like more decisions. What size do you need? Which edge profile suits your cabinetry? Which bowl shape fits the way you use the room? Here's a plain-language guide to every choice, from a manufacturer that has been pouring these tops in Miami since 1978.

Sizes: standard, custom, or somewhere in between

Cultured marble vanity tops are made to order, which means the size is built around your cabinet — not the other way around. That said, most bathrooms fall into a handful of common widths, and it helps to know them.

Standard vanity widths run 25", 31", 37", 43", 49", and 61", with a typical depth of about 22". These pair neatly with off-the-shelf cabinetry and cover the majority of residential bathrooms. If your space is a standard size, a standard top keeps things simple and fast.

Where cultured marble really earns its keep is the in-between and the unusual. Because every top is poured in a mold sized to your specification, we can build to an exact width, wrap a top around a corner, run a long double-bowl top across a shared cabinet, or accommodate an odd depth that a pre-cut slab could never fit. If you can measure it, we can make it — down to the placement of the faucet holes.

Backsplashes and side splashes

A small detail that makes a big difference over the years: how the top meets the wall. There are two ways to do it, and each has its place.

An integral backsplash is a 4" lip molded as one continuous piece with the top. Because it's seamless, water never finds a gap to seep behind — which is exactly where dampness and mildew tend to start.

A separate backsplash is a matching piece of cultured marble installed against the wall behind the top. It reads as a cleaner, more modern look, and because it's made as its own piece, we can build it to any height you want — from a low profile up to a full wall-height panel behind the faucet.

If your vanity sits against a side wall, a matching side splash protects the end of the top the same way. Side splashes are always made as separate pieces so they can be sized to whatever height suits your space.

Edge profiles: the detail people notice first

The edge is the part of a vanity top your eye lands on and your hand touches. We offer three edge profiles, and the right one ties the top to the style of the room and the cabinetry below it.

Square edge — clean, crisp, and modern, and by far our most popular. What makes it special is the range of thicknesses: we build square edges at ¾" (our standard), 1½", 2", 3", 4", 5", 6", 7", 8", 9", and 10". A thin ¾" edge keeps things light and contemporary; a thick built-up edge — 3" and beyond — gives the top the substantial, monolithic look of a solid stone slab.

Bullnose edge — a 1½" fully rounded edge that's soft to the touch and very forgiving. A classic, family-friendly choice with no sharp corners.

Stone edge — a 2" edge with the organic, chiseled character of natural rock. The choice when you want the top itself to be a focal point.

There's no single "right" edge — it comes down to the look you're after and the cabinetry it sits on. If you're unsure, we're happy to talk it through and match the profile to your space.

Bowl options: 16+ shapes, molded right into the top

This is the choice that most affects both the look and the upkeep of your vanity top — and it's where made-to-order cultured marble does things no other material can.

Every Marble-Lite bowl is molded as part of the top itself — the basin and the counter are a single continuous piece of cultured marble with no seam, no rim, and no caulk line between them. That seamless transition is easy to wipe clean, gives you nothing to scrub around, and is the reason so many homeowners choose cultured marble for a vanity in the first place.

Our classic shapes cover every style of bathroom: clean-lined Square, Rectangular, and Long Rectangular bowls for contemporary spaces, softer shapes like the Sara 27 and Sophia, and the generous Super Bowl with its molded-in soap dish.

Then there are our upgraded bowls — and this is where we stand alone. Shapes like the Ramp series (from the Ramp 20 all the way up to the large-format Ramp 113 and Ramp 137), the Wave, the Slant, the Hexagonal, and the Plasma are sculpted designs cast from molds we've developed over decades. No other manufacturer makes bowls like these — they simply can't be bought anywhere else. If you want a vanity that guests notice the moment they walk in, this is how you get it.

For a double vanity, you can mix and match — two molded bowls on one continuous top is a popular, low-maintenance setup for shared bathrooms. Undermount versions of several bowls are available as well.

Color and finish

Every cultured marble vanity top is finished with a protective gel coat, which is what makes the surface non-porous — no sealing, no staining, and no special cleaners required. On top of that, you're choosing from a wide palette of colors and veining patterns, from soft Carrara whites to deeper grays and warm neutrals, plus textured Granilux finishes. Because the color is built in, we can match an existing scheme closely or help you pick something new.

How to spec the right top

Bring three things and the rest is easy: the width and depth of your cabinet, the number of bowls you want, and the faucet configuration (single-hole, or a standard spread). From there we'll help you land on an edge profile, a bowl style, and a color. Every top is made to order, so there's no need to compromise on any of it.

"A vanity top should fit your bathroom exactly and still be easy to live with ten years later. That's what made-to-order cultured marble is built to do."
